Torres de'Anguix

The Rubio Garcia family have been winegrowers in Ribera del Duero since 1752. In the last half of the 20th century, the family made a modest fortune in industry. They founded the Bodega in 1982. Over the next 20 years, they judiciously added old vineyards from the best terroirs and hired the best vineyard workers and winemakers of the region, seeking only those with long experience. They started bottling wine in 1999 and selling in bottle in 2001. The result is a lineup of wines of incredible quality, all sold at more than fair prices.

Barrica

This wine is made from 100% Tempranillo and receives only the gentlest kiss of oak - four months in American barrels, new. It is a wine of subtlety and finesse, deep and rich in black cherry fruit with all of the tannins and the acidity smoothly polished. "The 2003 Torres de Anguix 'Barrica' is the most complex wine for the price... it possesses deep black cherry and licorice notes with hints of graphite and spice box. Medium-bodied with supple tannin as well as notions of spicy oak, this delicious, complex 2003 is best consumed over the next 3 years." 89 points, The Wine Advocate #159, 6/30/05
