Settimo

The vineyards and boutique winery of Aurelio Settimo reflect the loving care and dedication typical of the family estates within the La Morra zone in Barolo. Aurelio and his daughter, Tiziana, work only with red grapes: Dolcetto, and the Lampia clone of Nebbiolo. The clay-limestone soil, the altitude and position are ideal for viticulture. Settimo wines have won many prizes and accolades, including the Douja d'Oro in Asti, a diploma at the VinItaly fair in Verona, a silver medal at the "Il Vino" competition in New York, a gold medal in Zurich and bronze medals at the International Wine Challenge in London.

Dolcetto d'Alba, DOC

It is safe to say, that Settimo Dolcetto d'Alba is like no other Dolcetto. Settimo exceeds all of the legal requirements for Dolcetto d'Alba. The yield per acre is extremely low; the grapes are gathered at full maturity, resulting in a grander, more structured Dolcetto. The wine is aged in the cellars for an entire year. Settimo Dolcetto d'Alba is distinctive. It does not possess grapey, jammy aspects, but is more ethereal, with a taste profile similar to Morgon or Moulin-A-Vent. It is classy, fine wine that will improve with 3 to 5 yeas cellaring. Only about 100 cases are available in America. Ideal with poultry, especially roasted chicken. Try it with veal, pork or pasta dishes based on tomato or meat sauces. Perfect with many risotto preparations.
