Primacia

Primacia is a part of Hand Picked Selections' wine portfolio.

Primacia is one of four brands produced by an historic Mendoza Bodega, Cavas de Conde. For decades, Cavas de Conde (Cellars of the Count) was one of the most prestigious wines of Argentina, with most sales to top shops and restaurants in Buenos Aires. The collapse of the economy hit Cavas de Conde harder than most.

Reds from fine vineyards, some independent, some under contract to Cavas de Conde, are grown and vinified to make ripe, solid wines with good density (yields rarely exceed 4 tons/acre). They are bottled young and fresh with no oak. They are screaming values.

Syrah

Deep ruby color. Very pure fruit aromas featuring black cherries with just a hint of pepper and green herbs. Ripe, solid, deep and fresh on the palate the black cherry notes carry through. The tannins are abundant but fine and moderate acidity gives the wine freshness without going over the line to tart. Top 40 Hand Picked Selections wine!

This is enjoyable with a wide range of foods, in any season. It has depth for winter, freshness for summer and balance for spring and fall. For some reason I've found it a perfect match with turkey - maybe something to do with cranberry sauce? Try it with meat loaf, or calzones, or Mexican stuff that comes in tortillas. Versatile and affordable are the watchwords.
