Panarroz

Panarroz Jumilla

"Panarroz" is a brand name for this Monastrell blend (aka Mourverde, in France). It's made at Bodegas Olivares, a large facility in Jumilla (hoo-MEE-yah), a growing region in Spain's arid southeast. Jumilla's vineyards are at very high elevation, with a huge swings between daytime and nighttime temperatures. The wine is a blend of Mourvedre, Grenache, and Syrah. It's un-oaked, made and aged in neutral vats. "It is a wonderful value. It bursts from the glass with a leather-laced black fruits. On the Palate, this medium bodied effort is big, spicy, reveals loads of depth, and has a tannic rusticity that screams out for a barbequed steaks." 88 points, The Wine Advocate June 2006
