WineAustriaHoeplerThe Hoepler winery is located in Breitenbrunn on the western banks of lake Neusiedl, in the Austrian province of Burgenland. Their 24 hectares of cultivated vineyards face south east between the 'Leithagebirge' hills and lake Neusiedl. This creates a warm, humid microclimate in which grapes of the highest quality flourish. In Addition the contrasting soils of chalk, gravel and sand are rich in calcium as well as in slate and contribute to the unique complexity and character of the wines. Wines mature in either stainless steel tanks or large oak vats. Some red wines and a small quantity of white wines mature in barriques made of French oak. Their focus lies in supplying first class restaurants, hotels and gourmet shops and they are privileged to have a number of top restaurants as clients in both within Austria and abroad. Over 50% of production is exported to Germany, Sweden, Finland, USA, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, Philippines etc. Gruner VeltlinerThe Austrian national grape variety is marked by its primary rock character, a light green tinge, yellow apple scents, and spicy hay flavours supported by minerals. Gruner Veltliner is particularly good when served with cold starters, pastas, delicate salads or as an aperitif. ZweigeltZweigelt, a cross between Blaufrankisch and St. Laurent, is Austria's most cultivated red wine varietal. Dark ruby red with violet hues, enticing nose with sour cherry; oak seasoning, with red berries on the finish. This Zweigelt works well with calf's kidneys, beef dishes and roast beef. Noble ReserveGrape variety: Cuvee / Clas sification: Trockenbeerenauslese Residual sugar: 204g/l / Acidity: 9.4g/l / Alcohol: 9.1vol% The name Noble Reserve easily allows you to guess the contents of this bittersweet wine. The "noble" and bittersweet character of this wine inspired its name. The term "Reserve" indicates the careful selection undertaken to allow the grapes to ripen slowly and gently. Noble Reserve is an excellent companion to fois gras and pates, as well as fruits and particular sweets. The Noble Reserve 2001 received 90 points from the Wine Spectator journal and was awarded the Bronze Medal at the International Wine Challenge in 2003. TrockenbeerenausleseGrape variety: Cuvee / Residual sugar: 177.5g/l Acidity: 8.4g/l / Alcohol: 11vol% In the preparation of this wine only the ripest grapes are allowed to remain on the stocks until the fruit nectar has developed into a gooey concentrate and is botrytis-affected. The result is a rich, concentrated, dessert wine, golden yellow in colour with apricot and clove flavours. Silky and persistent on the palate. Trockenbeerenauslese is served with certain sweets, blue cheese or at the end of a good meal. TBA 2001 received 90 points in the April edition of the "Wine Spectator" and was awarded the Silver Medal at the Mundus Vini. EisweinGrape variety: Gruner Veltliner / Residual sugar: 130g/l / Acidity: 6.1g/l / Alcohol: 11.0vol% What is exclusive to Eiswein is that it is harvested at -7°C. Gentle pressing retains the frozen water in a special press, while the concentrated must evaporates. Light golden yellow in colour, intense apple and peach aromas, balanced residual sugar on the palate, crisp acidic structure, and a touch of honey. |
